During the last ten years, Rafters designers and product managers have devised new and innovative methods of producing footwear using recycled materials. ; Upper webbing is made of recycled PET from plastic water and soda bottles. Outsoles are made from 25% recycled rubber. Lining is made from 60% bamboo fiber. Mid wedges and outsoles are infused with jute plant fiber and cork, reducing the amount of rubber needed for production. The makers of Rafters also wear and test their products in the Pacific Northwest and understand the needs of their customers.
